If your love of being in the classroom intersects with your love of the arts, the 艺术教育 minor at Alfred University is for you. 植根于美术课程, this course of study also prepares you for teacher certification in New York State.

同时辅修艺术教育, you will be enrolled in the appropriate baccalaureate programs in either the 文理学院 and 科学 or the 艺术与设计学院 of the New York State College of Ceramics, in addition to completing the minor requirements of the Middle/Adolescence 教育 program.

*Alfred University offers you the opportunity to apply for an 应用 & 体验式学习体验(顶点) grant which can provide up to $1,000 to support you during your student teaching semester.
As the Visual 艺术 小 is within the 文理学院 & 科学, these students are also required to take 1 semester of a World Language and 1 semester of Science.
This minor requires an additional semester after the traditional 8 semesters for students to complete their student teaching.

Alfred University maintains high standards for all students admitted into our education programs. You may apply for admission into the visual arts education minor at the beginning of your junior year.

Alfred University is an approved teacher preparation program for New York State Visual 艺术 (preK - 12) teacher certification.

The SAVE workshop is provided within EDUC 231 every semester and the DASA workshop is offered online every semester. NYS requires candidates applying for Initial (first) certification to complete a fingerprinting/background check. Students will need to have fingerprinting completed for the Practicum/Fieldwork semester in order to comply with school district policies. Fingerprinting information can be obtained from the Division of 教育 office.
NYSED - Teacher certification acceptable grades policy:
Only courses with a grade of C or above for undergraduate level courses will be acceptable in meeting the content core and pedagogical core requirements.
